The European Union has allocated funds, under the Circular Economy and Local Development Programme towards the implementation of the Coconut Waste Project. Circular economy (CE) is a development priority of the European Union and it is part of the EU industrial strategy. The transition to a more circular economy is an essential contribution to the EU’s efforts to develop a sustainable, low carbon, resource-efficient, and competitive economy. By dedicating the funds, the EU seeks to contribute to a healthier planet through the reduction of pollution, pressure on natural resources such as water and land, create new business opportunities and local quality jobs as well as enable more resilient value chains
